Hello everyone! Glad to get some feedback, I didn't know if I people were actually reading this! But, I'm happy you guys are, I love telling the stories.

Well yesterday was an awesome day. My friend Zach who is in Taipei teaching English, who I had my first 2 years of chinese class with, asked if I wanted to go to Maokong. Maokong is a place in the mountains where there is a lot of tea. So we took the MRT an hour out of Taipei into the mountains (Taipei is surrounded by mountains) and we took like a 4 mile gondola ride up the mountain. The views were incredible! We than got up to the top of the mountain and there are tea houses everywhere. Tea is a big thing in Taiwan. Everyone drinks tea and it is a huge part of the culture here. So we found a tea house we liked and picked out some tea, and we just relaxed at this tea house for close to 2 hours. You just sit and drink tea, it was an awesome time. It was fun to do more of a cultural thing.

Later that night, Tuukka and I went over to Tuukka's girlfriend Emilia's college which is probably a half hour from ours by bus. We met up with Emilia and her friend Vicky and we went and got some Sichuan chinese food. Delicious! We walked around her part of town and grabbed a strawberry smoothie Taiwan style. The smoothie is delicious but they add these weird like chewy, rice balls and some other like seed ball things lol. It's weird! But, I guess it gives it texture lol. Definitely never had anything like it before.

At night on Wednesdays there is a bar called Roxy 99, it's basically where all the foreign exchange students go to hang out. So we all went there. We were part of the first 200 people there, so you get a free drink which is cool. But it's different here because people get their 1 free drink and than instead of staying at the bar and buying drinks there, EVERYONE goes to the 7/11! It's so weird, people just hang out outside of 7/11 and drink there beer that they buy from 7/11. It's like the party is outside of 7/11 rather than inside of a bar. It's different but cool. So we hung out there for a couple hours and than headed back to home, it was a pretty early night. But, it was fun to hang out with the guys.

Another thing I forgot to add in my last post that was so bizarre! Alex, his girlfriend Nikki and I were eating some ice cream at Mcdonalds the other night and this guy and girl came up to me and she was telling me that the movie Thor is coming out soon and they need someone to play the role of Thor and tour around Taiwan to promote the movie. So she asked me if I wanted to be Thor and be the person that everyone takes pictures with....what is that?! Lol, I had no idea what to say to her, it was so bizarre! She said she would email me with more information, so I guess I'll wait and see what it's all about lol, I don't think I want to do it, but if it pays well, maybe I will. But how weird is that? Anyways, thought that you guys would like to hear that, pretty weird story.

Alright, I'm headed out to grab some grub, stay tuned!

  1. take that job! Haha. If not paid, as for free meals or something? That would be a nice and random thing to do in Taiwan.

I saw your pictures, you found the yogurt place! That place is sooo awesome. Oh yeah, a heads up. When you go to Danshui, you'll see this small restaurant (kind of like one) and it has American food. French fries, loaded potatoes, etc. DO NOT TRY IT! It's a big fail.

BUT, there's this REALLY REALLY good restaurant there. You have to walk quite a bit down Danshui and there's a place where you have to walk upstairs. The restaurant is really nice and they have a deck with tables so you can eat outside to view the lake and stuff. Most of their food is seafood.
